What's in Season - January

After the excess of Christmas celebrations, January is all about eating fresh seasonal produce and using store cupboard staples to turn simple foods into delicious meals.

Potatoes
Roast, Jacket, Chips or Mash – there are so many ways to enjoy the humble spud. Nutritious and delicious, the potato comes in many different varieties and is one of the most popular and versatile vegetables.

Leeks
A member of the onion family, leeks are a tasty addition to soups but can also be steamed down and enjoyed as a side dish.

Swede
A cross between a turnip and a variety of cabbage, it is not always easy to know what to do with swede. It works well with other root vegetables such as carrots to create a tasty mash or it can simply be boiled or steamed and roasted like a potato.
